I've noticed that if I try to add an arbitrary header in the external editor, it simply ignores it when it goes back to the TB compose window.  It would be great to be able to add arbitrary headers.  If there's a problem with that, then maybe allowing headers beginning with X- would be possible. Second, how difficult would it be to generalize this extension so that one could edit messages in folders?  I'm particularly interested in being able to edit subjects.  There's an extension out there that does this for TB 1.0, but it's been dormant so long that I think the author has abandoned it.  I'd be willing to contribute $$ to the cause!  And from what I've read in various forums online, you'd earn the eternal gratitude of many TB users!

I agree. Especially I would like to (be able to) delete References/In-Reply-To headers. This is useful when a thread drifts away from the original subject but you still want to reply to an email in the thread which has implicitly already changed the topic.

My current workaround is to click the Reply-Button in the toolbar, click also Write, and copy the text from the reply window to the write window, then close the reply window. It would be nice if this could be done easier. smile

Frank DiLecce (Ausdilecce) made "TB Header Tools" (did you speak about this one?), and it doesn't seem so dormant, as the last version (0.6.6) works with TB 2.0.

I'll try to find the time to have a look in it, but I think the mechanism used is very different, and probably not easy no integrate in External Editor.

Please, don't be waiting for this, it's likely to never happen.
