Thanks for investigating the missing "Re:"s.  I'm surprised that Thunderbird drops the "Re:".  It seems wrong.

Anyway, I don't know anything about programming with Mozilla or XUL, but I was looking around at the website that you posted and it seems that there must be a way to obtain the actual Subject header!  smile

What about something like this:
