Using it remotely will result in average bandwidth usage (10kBps average 40 peak), the same 100% cpu usage and one thumbnail at a time loading... maybe a little faster, but not much. I think the problem is the same, difference made from saving Safari from working on the page (which was a bit of weight).

I don't see the security issue. Can't you map a php request to the direct thumbnail instead of the temp file? The URL would be the same... cry
