I'm using Thunderbird 24 under Windows XP.

The instructions say to use View > Toolbars > Customize to install the External Editor icon on the toolbar. Unfortunately there is no External Editor icon.

The only icons in the Customize dialog are: Separator, Flexible Space, Space, Contacts, Quote, Cut, Copy, and Paste.
