Does anyone know if Web iPhoto Access will work with iLife '08? I went out and bought it last night, but want to hold off installing it till we know it will still work.
Thanks! |

Hi,
I haven't got it yet, i can't answer myself.
If your library is not too large and if you have some free disk space, I would advise you to just backup your "iPhoto Library" folder and your iPhoto06 application before you install iPhoto 08 and let it update the library. This should probably let you rollback the switch in case of trouble (but do it at your own risks, as I haven't tested this myself) |

Ok. I took the dive and even though iPhoto '08 made HUGE changes to the file structure (Basically where it used to be /data/Roll XXX/IMG_XXX.jpg it's now /data/Mon XX, XXXX/IMG_XXX.jpb)
It still works! You can see it working here:

Thanks again for an amazing php app! |

Yeah, great news, thanks.
In fact, the photo file tree doesn't matter, as long as wipha still understands the AlbumData.xml file which describes your iPhoto pictures, albums, comments and so on.
Well, I wonder if 'events' are handled as albums and as such also appear in wipha album list. Probably not. I suppose I'll have to tweak some part of the parser to take advantage of this new sorting capability. |

I seem to be having problems with Photocast. Trying to use iPhoto '08 to subscribe to WiPhA Photocast (running also in a iPhoto '08 machine), the authentication does not work. I can use the same RSS feed using the browser.
Anyone having the same problem? |

I noticed the same thing. I spent some time looking at packet traces between iPhoto 7 vs. iPhoto 6. iPhoto 7 doesn't send anything back after it prompts for username/password like iPhoto 6 does. My guess is there is something wipha is sending that iPhoto 7 doesn't like n the initial exchange but I am not certain what it is. |

Someone with access to .mac needs to set up a photocast that requires a password and trace/xamine the packets. I spent some time trying to get iphoto 7 to work but had no luck whatsoever. |

If it helps, one can set up a free .Mac account for 60 day trial. |

After investigation, it looks like an iPhoto bug:
the authentication works in 2 steps:
1-
iPhoto tries to access wipha
Wipha sends an authentication request
iPhoto displays the dialog to get a login and password
2-
iPhoto tries to access wipha with the provided login and password
wipha accepts the request and sends the rss feed.
What happens with iPhoto 7 is that the 2 access requests are sent to wipha even before iPhoto pops up the dialog to ask for the login/password.
Then after you have filled the dialog and click OK, nothing is sent to wipha.
I can't see no workaround, except using the 'guest' version of the photocast link, as it doesn't require authentication. Of course, your album must be authorized for guest access. |

Hi there,
Just trying to get this to work here with iPhoto '08... I can see why there isn't really a solution yet for the authentication, but I can't get anything to happen with the Guest link, either. In fact, I can't see any difference between the RSS link that I get when logged in as a guest, and the one while logged in as another user. Should there be?
Thanks! |

Ugh ! this is a wipha bug.
The photocast link you get from the photocast icon in the top bar doesn't contain the 'guest' indicator.
However, the links displayed in the mail are correct, you can see how the guest link is built: you just need to add
at the end of the normal url.
