Sujet n°121 PhotoCast not working properly

Everything else works perfectly, and I've set it up a bit differently. For one, I setup a DynDNS.com account up to point to my IP (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080) and adjusted Apache's httpd.conf file to serve the website on port 8080, but listen to port 80 & port 8080 so that both requests still get through.

Also, when logged into Hamachi (Zero-configuration secure VPN), people can get to my photos also.

Anyways, the long & short is that even when subscribing to a PhotoCast in iTunes with both the "feed://ip:8080/" and the "feed://ip/" URI, I get the error:
"There is a problem with the Photocast.
The Photocast at http://xxxxxx/ could not be found or is invalid."

However, the RSS feed for both URIs show up correctly in Safari & Firefox.

Any ideas? (iPhoto 6.0.4 (305)). frown

Dixit...

I subscribe to my photocast in iPhoto with the combo Command-U, and by providing the rss link with http protocol:

http://ip/wipha/photocast.php?lib=.......

is this really what you do ?

I've tried it both ways, with both http:// and feed:// prefixing the address.

I get the "Enter your username/password" dialogue, but after entering in the correct username/password, it fails.

feed:// responds the same way that http:// in iPhoto, i suppose because both are acceptable in Safari.

Quick response, by the way!

If it asks for the login/password, you reached the site, the url is ok. But if you can't authenticate, it might be due to the special apache config. I know for sure that you can't have wipha installed in a folder protected by the "basic http authentication", since it's also used by wipha.
I don't know if there are other limitations, but you should first try with a standard install.

Special apache config? Try a standard install? I used the standard installer that you provided (which worked marvelously), so that's why I'm puzzled.

I've changed my Apache configuration so that it still uses port 80. I've only implemented "Listen 80" and "Listen 8080", since my Cable provider won't let me serve web pages via port 80.

Everything else is the same, though. I'm even able to download photos through the interface, so I assume it's not a "permissions" problem.

Once again, the Wipha folder hasn't been touched or altered in any way by me, but only by the installation package.

If you'd like to contact me privately, I can give you the URL and you can test for yourself. Heck, I'll even let you connect to the server via SMB and modify it, if you'd like. smile

I was right in the middle of making a walk-through, but wanted to get this solved before it got posted.

Sorry to bother you...

Don't know if I can help you, but yes, please send me the url and wipha login/passwd (to begin with).

Ok, this was a bug with html forbidden characters in the pictures caption or comment, which were not escaped in the xml rss file.
This will be fixed in 2.2.
